Located just across the street from the Taipei City Hall MRT station, W Taipei boasts an absolutely fantastic location! Not only can you catch glimpses of the iconic Taipei 101 from various spots throughout the hotel, but the guest rooms and restaurants are also packed with incredible design and a playful vibe. Despite being situated in the most bustling part of Taipei, the hotel surprisingly offers a wonderful resort atmosphere. You can effortlessly lounge by the pool, soaking in the relaxing vacation vibes while enjoying the city views of the Xinyi District all at once. The restaurants and bars here feature ultra-trendy designs with diverse options. Whether you're staying the night or just visiting for a meal or a drink, we highly recommend checking it out!

Location & Transportation

Co-constructed with the Uni-President Department Store, W Taipei boasts an exceptional location. It’s situated right at Exit 2 of the Taipei City Hall MRT station—just take a turn and cross the street, and you’re there! Popular tourist attractions like Taipei 101, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and Songshan Cultural and Creative Park are all within easy walking distance. If you're in the mood for shopping or catching a movie, the vibrant Xinyi shopping district is right at your doorstep.
Hotel Lobby

The massive "W" logo is incredibly eye-catching on the streets of the Xinyi District—it's nearly impossible to walk by without noticing there's a W Hotel here!

Stepping into W Taipei, you are greeted by an arrival lobby with sky-high ceilings. The entire wall and front desk feature a sleek wooden design, paired with glossy floors illuminated by scattered, circular club-style lighting. Right from this arrival lobby, it feels incredibly trendy and luxurious!

If you're checking in, you'll need to take the elevator from the ground-floor arrival lobby up to the 10th floor. But don't worry—as soon as you walk in, the welcoming staff will kindly take your luggage and guide you toward the elevators.

The reception area has a dedicated counter specifically for Marriott Bonvoy members, and the hotel staff checking us in were exceptionally friendly and welcoming!

The natural light pouring in from the windows casts beautifully textured reflections of the staircase onto the polished floor. Paired with the pink, club-like lighting on the ground, the elevator lobby looks absolutely gorgeous, doesn't it!
American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts Benefits
Staying at luxury hotels for free while enjoying elite member benefits isn't out of reach. With the right booking methods and taking advantage of statement credits, you can dramatically slash your accommodation costs.
In this post, we're going to share how we used American Express's "Fine Hotels & Resorts" program (commonly known as the FHR program) to book W Taipei, offset the hefty room rates, and ultimately achieve a free stay at W Taipei.
W Taipei is one of the most iconic luxury accommodation choices in Taipei's Xinyi District, which is exactly why it’s included in the American Express "Fine Hotels & Resorts" program (hereafter referred to as the FHR program). If you hold an American Express Platinum Card, you can check the Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts official website (Taiwan / US / Canada) to find the following luxury hotels in Taipei:
- Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei
- Grand Hyatt Taipei
- W Taipei (one of Marriott's luxury brands)
- Regent Taipei
- Hotel Proverbs Taipei (one of Marriott's premium brands)
- Mandarin Oriental, Taipei

As budget-conscious travelers, Cherry and Fish always pay close attention to room rates and value for money. Here are the exclusive benefits we found when booking through the Amex FHR program at over 1,100 properties worldwide:
- Daily breakfast for two
- Guaranteed 4:00 PM late check-out
- Room upgrade upon arrival (when available)
- Noon check-in (when available)
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- A unique property benefit valued at USD $100 (such as a spa or food and beverage credit, which varies by hotel/resort)
*Benefits vary slightly by partner hotel group and are subject to availability.

This way, even if you aren't a Marriott elite member, booking through this program allows you to enjoy perks similar to those of a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite. Add in the USD $100 property credit provided upon check-in, and you're essentially getting treatment that goes above and beyond!
If you hold a North American (US/Canada) Amex Platinum Card, booking via the FHR program also lets you take advantage of the $200 annual Travel Credit (this statement credit appears on your Platinum card billing statement, not as a discount on the booking price). Based on Cherry and Fish's experience booking W Taipei this time, the room rate was roughly around CAD $280 to CAD $306. Subtracting the hotel's USD $100 property credit and the CAD $200 travel credit—and even ignoring the value of the Marriott Bonvoy points earned—this simple calculation means our stay cost virtually nothing! Combined with the priceless luxury experience, we actually came out ahead, achieving our budget-traveler goal of staying at a luxury hotel for free.
Plugging in the cost, benefits, and statement credits from this booking, we get:
CAD $21 = (USD $100 + CAD $200) - CAD $306
Staying at luxury hotels for free while enjoying elite member benefits isn't out of reach. With the right booking methods and taking advantage of statement credits, you can dramatically slash your accommodation costs.
Accommodation cost fully offset and turning a profit = (FHR benefits + Amex Travel Credit) - Room rate cost
If you found our transparent booking tips helpful and are interested in applying for the Canadian version of the Amex Platinum Card, feel free to use Cherry and Fish's referral link to apply. You can earn a higher welcome bonus than the standard public offer (just remember to meet the minimum spend requirement within the time limit)!
Finally, here is a breakdown of the exclusive Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts benefits provided by W Taipei upon check-in, alongside the Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite benefits. The best part? You can stack them both!

Room Tour - Fabulous King Guest Room

We initially booked the base room at W Taipei: the Wonderful Room. At check-in, since both the Amex FHR program and our Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status offer room upgrades, the hotel proactively gave us two upgraded room types to choose from: the Spectacular Room and the Fabulous Room. So, what’s the difference between the two? After an explanation from the staff and a bit of research, here’s how they compare:
- Fabulous Room
- Features city views, with a view overlooking the WET® pool below.
- Comes with a freestanding bathtub and a separate shower (dry/wet separation layout). The wall connecting to the bedroom uses rotatable vertical wooden screens for a semi-transparent partition.
- A raised lounge area by the floor-to-ceiling windows featuring a large, long daybed.
- Spectacular Room
- Offers a Taipei 101 view (the same angle you get from Yen Bar on the 31st floor).
- The shower area and built-in bathtub share the same enclosed space. The partition facing the bedroom uses frosted sliding doors for semi-transparency.
- Features two small sofas next to the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Because we had already spent the previous two days staring at Taipei 101 from our room at Humble House Taipei right before checking into W Hotel, we weren’t overly obsessed with having a 101 view this time around. Plus, we knew we could always catch the 101 view at Yen Bar during Happy Hour. Factoring in the hotel staff's strong recommendation for the freestanding bathtub in the Fabulous Room, we ultimately passed on the Spectacular Room's 101 view and opted for the city-view Fabulous Room (Fabulous Room Guest Room, 1 King, City View).

The massive floor-to-ceiling windows visually extend the indoor space outside, making the entire room feel incredibly spacious!

After days of gazing at Taipei 101 from Humble House, we felt that changing it up to appreciate the opposite side's city view was also quite stunning 😆 The endless streams of traffic on the stretching roads, the boundless cityscape, and the faintly visible mountain peaks in the distance were all ours to admire!
youtube: https://youtu.be/od4-51cThSs

Looking down, you can also spot the hotel's outdoor swimming pool!

What Cherry loved most about the Fabulous Room was absolutely this lounge daybed right by the window!

You can relax by the window and casually soak in the sweeping, bird's-eye views outside! We could stay here all day and never get bored!

The room itself is quite spacious. Combining light woods and a white palette, accented with pops of vibrant lime green and fiery red, the overall design creates a very lively and playful vibe!

To celebrate our "Babymoon," we stayed at a total of 7 different hotels in northern Taiwan, which led us to the surprising realization that "Babymoons" aren't very common here! When most hotel staff heard "Babymoon," they mistakenly thought we were celebrating the baby's one-month birthday. Some hotels sent a birthday cake, while others prepared baby amenities in the room (which was still very sweet 😆). We are not exaggerating when we say W Taipei was the only hotel that actually knew what a Babymoon was! For their welcome amenity, they sent us heartwarming orange-flavored macarons and a cake, along with a super, super adorable hand-drawn card!

Cherry completely fell in love with this card—she almost framed it to bring home!

One side of the bathroom features a white decorative wall with built-in ambient lighting. It balances high-end design with practicality. Since it isn't a solid concrete wall, it adds a lot of transparency to the space, making it feel light and airy!

The bathroom design is very unique. Unlike the minimalist approach most hotels take, W Taipei's bathroom feels packed with fun "gadgets and gizmos." The counters are fully stocked with amenities, little stools, and more!

The rectangular washbasin looks absolutely gorgeous!

The way they arrange the amenities is super distinctive. They are placed inside a bright green transparent drawer box, and the top is lavishly lined with bottled water, towels, mouthwash cups, tissues, face wash, lotion, and so on.

The most fascinating item is this bright red jewelry stand! We’ve never seen a jewelry stand in any other hotel. If you like it, you can even buy one to take home. We have to say, W Hotel really knows how to do business—the entire room basically doubles as a showroom 😆

The amenities even include face wash, and it works quite well! Initially, when we saw one red and one green mouthwash cup, we assumed the toothbrushes would also be red and green. Out of sheer curiosity, we tore them open only to find both toothbrushes were red 😆 Later on, when we stayed at the Moxy Hotel in Taichung, we discovered a hotel that actually matched our logic and provided two different colored toothbrushes!

The hairdryer is a Philips, complete with red accents. Even in the small details, they didn't forget to echo the red and lime green theme of the room!

The freestanding bathtub is separated from the bedroom by a row of rotatable vertical wooden screens. You can look straight through to the bedroom and the views out the window while bathing! The wooden texture feels very premium, and if you need some privacy, you can simply close the screens and it instantly reverts to a normal, private bathroom!

Being able to soak in the tub while admiring the beautiful city skyline outside is just too relaxing!

The shower area uses a bold, vibrant green, and the recessed shelving area even features built-in spotlights, significantly elevating the luxury feel!

The toiletries are from the Italian brand Davines. Both Kevin and I felt they smelled exactly like coconut (though we checked the ingredients and couldn't find coconut listed anywhere 😆). The shampoo and conditioner left our hair super silky, and that "mystery" coconut scent somehow added to the tropical vacation vibe. Whether it’s for the fragrance or the quality, this has easily become one of Cherry's personal favorite hotel amenities!

The bidet toilet has a sensor that automatically opens the lid, flushes, and closes the lid. You don't have to touch the toilet from start to finish—super convenient! W Hotel injects a bit of humor into many corners, giving it a very playful personality. For example, the spare roll of toilet paper is labeled "Backup Plan." This playful touch felt very similar to our later stay at Moxy Taichung!

The unconventional bathroom design really shines. Despite being a hotel in the heart of the city, the overall style successfully delivers a lazy, relaxing vacation vibe!

The closet near the entrance contains a safe, luggage rack, ironing board, bathrobes, and more. The most surprising find? There’s actually a DVD player! Truly a testament to the hotel’s decade of history!

The bathrobe feels more like a light cotton material—it’s lightweight and highly comfortable. Combined with the signature "W" embroidered on the sleeve, it gave Cherry the strong urge to buy one to take home!

The TV is an older 42-inch LG LCD model with quite thick bezels. It feels slightly out of place compared to the trendy design of the rest of the room 😅 However, paired with the Bose sound system, the viewing experience is still quite good!

By the window, the Mini Bar features cabinets that irregularly stack from the floor all the way up to the ceiling—a highly unique design!

We didn't spot a coffee machine, but they do provide coffee drip bags, tea bags, an electric kettle, and more.

The Mini Bar is also fully stocked with "gadgets." In addition to alcohol and beverages, there's even a cocktail shaker. Is the idea to let guests transform into their own personal bartenders?

Open the mini-fridge, and you'll find an extensive selection of booze and beverages!

Open the Surprise Me cabinet, and the contents are even more fascinating! There are pantyhose, W baseball caps, W folding umbrellas… you name it! They truly commit to the marketing strategy of making every corner a display case 🤣

The bed at W Hotel is actually quite comfortable, and they offer a variety of pillow choices. However, the comfort level falls just a tiny bit short of Westin's famous "Heavenly Bed." For Cherry, who can usually pass out instantly on any bed, it was only during the sleep struggles of pregnancy that she could actually tell the subtle differences between mattresses!

It's definitely worth mentioning that this Fabulous Room gives off completely different vibes between daytime and nighttime once the lights are on! During the day, it has a fresh, slightly Nordic aesthetic. But at night, once the ambient lighting hits, it instantly transforms into an ultra-trendy club vibe 🤣

The neon ambient club lighting behind the TV wall and under the daybed is incredibly eye-catching!

The white decorative wall radiates bright ambient light, which, with the glow of the illumination, makes the entire bathroom feel much warmer and trendier than it does during the day!

Looking out from the bathroom also yields a radically different feel compared to the daytime!

Under the cover of night, as the red and blue lights from the surrounding buildings switch on, even the scenery outside the window unanimously shifts into club mode!

This was our very first time staying at a W Hotel brand property. Overall, we found the room quite spacious, and the design is truly one-of-a-kind—it just feels entirely different from other hotels. Even though it has been around for a while, it's very well-maintained and still remarkably stylish, proving that when it opened a decade ago, its room design was completely ahead of its time. The sheer comfort of the room makes you just want to laze around inside and never step out. The full floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to take in the breathtaking city views of Xinyi District straight from your room. Whether it's day or night, it’s stunningly beautiful and highly photogenic. We highly recommend it!

the kitchen table Buffet Breakfast

Breakfast at W Taipei is served at "the kitchen table" on the 10th floor. Operating hours are Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 10 AM, and weekends from 7 AM to 10:30 AM (subject to official announcements).

The dining space features a brilliant yellow and white color scheme. Coupled with abundant natural light, the environment feels incredibly vibrant and bright!

For a hotel breakfast, the variety here is impressive. They have three different kinds of congee alone—plain congee, sweet potato congee, and pork and century egg congee—along with a massive selection of side dishes to pair them with!

Besides congee, there’s also dim sum. The siu mai they serve is delicate and delicious; they certainly haven’t lowered their standards just because it’s a buffet breakfast.

The pastries and breads include some localized Taiwanese flavors. It was our first time seeing Castella honey cake at a hotel breakfast—what a pleasant surprise!

You can easily spot the black specks inside the custard buns, indicating they use real natural vanilla bean rather than artificial extract. The silky, smooth custard paired with the incredibly soft bread was absolutely delicious!

The Western spread offers plenty of choices for cold cuts and cheeses, even featuring dry-cured Iberico ham. Of course, hot dishes and cereals are also fully stocked.

In addition to a made-to-order egg station, the most eye-catching item has to be the "Truffle Scrambled Eggs"! Packed with rich truffle flavor, it’s absolutely incredible!

The made-to-order noodle soup even comes with two massive shrimp—they are wonderfully generous with their breakfast!

Overall, W Taipei's breakfast offers a vast array of choices, and the quality of ingredients is top-notch for a hotel breakfast, leaving a very positive impression on the palate. The spread focuses heavily on Taiwanese and Western options, and the pastries really hit the spot for Cherry! With plenty of made-to-order dishes and even freshly squeezed juices, it’s an incredibly sincere breakfast spread. Among the hotels we’ve visited in Taiwan, this breakfast easily ranks near the very top of our list!
Happy Hour
If you are a Marriott Platinum member (or above) or booked under specific packages, you absolutely cannot miss W Taipei's incredibly generous "Sunset Drinks"! Every day from 5 PM to 7 PM, Happy Hour offers unlimited selected drinks at either "Woobar on the 10th floor" or "Yen Bar on the 31st floor." It’s a spectacularly generous perk!

During sunset, Cherry strongly recommends heading up to Yen Bar to enjoy Happy Hour while taking in the views of Taipei 101!

Stepping into Yen Bar, you immediately notice the bright natural lighting and the ultra-trendy purple-themed lounge space!

We arrived right on the dot at 5 PM. The staff thoughtfully seated us in a booth and served up some dry vegetable crisps to pair with the drinks. They were ridiculously good! (We thought we were exercising self-control, but we accidentally polished off two bowls 😂)

All the drinks in the menu pictured above are free-flowing! Since pregnant women can’t drink alcohol, we were relieved to find two mocktail options available: "Oasis" and "Red Sun." But if you do drink, you could order your way through the entire list—absolute paradise! 🤩🤩🤩

After asking around, we found out they also serve hot chocolate! Both mocktails weren't overly sweet and tasted great. We initially assumed a cocktail-focused Happy Hour wouldn't be very welcoming to an alcohol-free pregnant lady, but surprisingly, the snacks and mocktails were both tasty and relatively healthy!

Paired with the unbeatable 31st-floor views and Taipei 101 in the backdrop, it was pure perfection! Like the true tourists we are, we couldn't bear to leave, staying and sipping for the full two hours!

The night view is equally stunning. With the gorgeous scenery elevating the experience at Yen Bar, even though they don't serve a full food spread like some other hotel Happy Hours, W Taipei's Happy Hour still managed to leave one of the best impressions on us to date! Super highly recommended!
For those who already hold Marriott Bonvoy status or are planning to join, we highly recommend booking W Taipei directly through Marriott's official website to ensure you receive all your elite benefits and earn points. If you book through a third-party site, there’s a high chance you won’t be able to enjoy any of your membership perks during your stay!

Hotel Facilities
Situated right in the prime center of Taipei, W Taipei boasts an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, spa, along with two restaurants and three bars. The overall structure of the facilities makes Cherry feel like it operates on the scale of a true resort. It's basically the kind of hotel where you walk in and refuse to leave until checkout!
Outdoor Swimming Pool

Lazing around the open-air pool while soaking up vacation vibes is an absolute must-do—it's one of the top photo spots here!

The poolside is equipped with a variety of loungers and rocking chairs.

At the far end of the pool sits a massive stainless steel art installation. Walk up close to snap a photo, and your reflection shines right back at you—it shares a striking resemblance to Chicago’s famous "Cloud Gate" (The Bean)!

The outdoor pool is surrounded by lush gardens, creating a stark contrast against the towering skyscrapers all around. It's a gorgeous clash of aesthetics!

The garden features numerous landscaping details that are perfect for both relaxing and casually snapping fantastic photos. If you love taking Instagram-worthy shots, you absolutely cannot miss this outdoor pool and garden area!
Fitness Center

It’s an incredibly large and trendy hotel gym! The amount of fitness equipment inside is almost excessive for a hotel gym. Located on the 12th floor, the fitness center also boasts great views all around.

You can get a great, close-up view of Taipei 101 right from the gym!
AWAY Spa

Also located on the 12th floor is the spa. Due to time constraints, we didn't have the chance to experience it this time, but word has it they feature saunas, steam rooms, and vitality pools. If you have the time, it's definitely worth checking out!
Hotel Restaurants
W Taipei houses two main dining venues: the all-day dining restaurant "the kitchen table" on the 10th floor, and "Yen Chinese Restaurant" on the 31st floor.

The hotel's buffet breakfast is served right here at the kitchen table. In addition to breakfast, they also serve lunch and dinner buffets—which boast excellent reviews online!

Yen Chinese Restaurant is located on the 31st floor, offering spectacular window views. They serve dim sum for lunch, while dinner mostly consists of family-style banquet dishes. We hear their Peking Duck (which requires advance booking) is quite famous! Since it was just the two of us, we opted for the dim sum lunch instead. A few of the dishes were incredibly unique and delicious. Paired with the elegant dining environment, we highly recommend it!

W Taipei’s three bars are Woobar and WET Bar on the 10th floor, alongside Yen Bar on the 31st floor. Woobar features soaring ceilings and views out to the pool, mainly serving light bites and drinks. We highly recommend picking a sunny day to sit at Woobar, looking out over the pool and soaking up those resort vibes!

Located right by the pool, WET Bar is another option, making it convenient to grab a bite or drink while swimming. Unfortunately, it was closed for renovations during our stay.

Needless to say, our most highly recommended bar is Yen Bar, where you can look down over the Xinyi District cityscape and Taipei 101 from high above! If you visit W Taipei, you absolutely cannot miss this ultra-chic bar!
How to Enjoy W Taipei's Resort Facilities Without Staying Overnight?
The services and amenities at W Taipei are genuinely on par with a top-tier resort, which is naturally reflected in its premium room rates! However, Cherry discovered that Klook offers an exclusive, stay-free "Play and Feast Day Pass". This package lets you access W Taipei’s pool, sauna, and gym facilities, and even includes two specialty cocktails at Woobar plus a 5-star buffet dinner at the kitchen table! The price is very reasonable, making it a fantastic recommendation for anyone wanting to enjoy W Taipei's facilities without paying for an expensive overnight stay!
➡️ Klook Exclusive Day Pass Offer

Our Stay Experience & Recommended Guests
Cherry feels that W Taipei is the most resort-like hotel we’ve stayed at in Taipei so far! During our stay, Kevin kept talking about wanting to head downstairs and explore the Xinyi District. But the hotel's facilities and restaurants absorbed so much of our time photographing and experiencing everything that, in the end, we literally stayed indoors from check-in to check-out without ever stepping outside! The overall design is stylish and profoundly relaxing. Despite being located in the busy Xinyi District, neither the rooms nor the public spaces give off any sort of rigid business hotel vibe. Both the amenities and the restaurants are fantastic. It's truly a hotel where you can fully unwind and indulge in a proper vacation!

Co-constructed with the Uni-President Department Store, W Taipei boasts an unbeatable location. It's just a quick turn and a street crossing away from Exit 2 of the Taipei City Hall MRT station! If you're checking in, you'll need to take the elevator from the first-floor welcome lobby up to the 10th floor. But don't worry—the moment you walk in, the welcoming staff will take your luggage and carefully guide you toward the elevators.

The reception area has a dedicated counter for Marriott Bonvoy members, and the hotel staff checking us in were exceptionally friendly!

Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts
Staying at a luxury hotel for free while enjoying elite member perks isn't out of reach. By using the right booking methods and applying statement credits, you can drastically reduce your costs.
Here, we’re going to share how we booked W Taipei through the American Express "Fine Hotels & Resorts" program (commonly known online as the FHR program) to offset the high room rates, ultimately allowing us to experience W Taipei for free.
W Taipei is one of the most iconic luxury accommodation choices in Taipei's Xinyi District, which is why it’s included in the Amex "Fine Hotels & Resorts" (FHR) program. If you hold an Amex Platinum Card, you can search the Fine Hotels & Resorts official site (Taiwan / US / Canada) for the following luxury hotels in Taipei:
- Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei
- Grand Hyatt Taipei
- W Taipei (One of Marriott's luxury brands)
- Regent Taipei
- Hotel Proverbs Taipei (One of Marriott's premium brands)
- Mandarin Oriental, Taipei

For savvy travelers like Cherry and Fish, we always pay close attention to room rates and overall value. Below are the exclusive perks we found when booking through the Amex "FHR program," available at over 1,100 properties worldwide:
- Daily breakfast for two
- Guaranteed 4:00 PM late checkout
- Room upgrade upon arrival (when available)
- Noon check-in (when available)
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- A unique property benefit worth $100 USD (e.g., free SPA or food & beverage credit; varies by hotel/resort)
* Specific hotel benefits may vary slightly by partner hotel groups and are subject to availability.

This way, even if you aren't a Marriott member, booking through this program gives you perks similar to a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member. Add the $100 USD property credit provided during your stay, and it's basically an unbeatable VIP treatment!
If you hold a North American (US/Canada) Amex Platinum Card, booking through the "FHR program" also allows you to use your $200 annual Travel Credit (this statement credit applies directly to your Platinum Card statement, not the booking system price) (US - info varies based on the card since 2021 / Canada - CAD$200 annual credit). For Cherry and Fish's experience booking W Taipei this time, the room rate was roughly CAD$280~CAD$306. By deducting the $100 USD property credit and the CAD$200 travel credit, even without factoring in the value of the Marriott Bonvoy points earned, simple math shows our accommodation costs were completely wiped out! Combined with the priceless stay experience, it turned into a pure positive return! We successfully hit our savvy travel goal of staying at a luxury hotel for free.
Factoring in the room rate, perks, and statement credits for this booking, we get:
CAD$21 = (USD$100 + CAD$200) - CAD$306
Staying at a luxury hotel for free while enjoying elite member perks isn't out of reach. By using the right booking methods and applying statement credits, you can drastically reduce your costs.
Accommodation costs completely offset resulting in a positive return = (The aforementioned FHR perks + Amex Travel Credit) - Room rate cost
If you found this completely transparent booking information helpful and are interested in applying for the Canadian Amex Platinum Card, you're welcome to use Cherry and Fish's referral link to apply. You can earn a higher sign-up bonus than the standard public offer (just remember to meet the minimum spend requirement within the timeframe)!
Finally, here is a list of the exclusive perks provided by W Taipei for the "Fine Hotels & Resorts" program and the Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite benefits given at check-in. You can actually stack both!

Room Tour - Fabulous King Guest Room

We originally booked W Taipei's base room: the Wonderful Room. However, during check-in, because both our Fine Hotels & Resorts booking and our Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status offer room upgrades, the hotel proactively offered us a choice between two upgraded room types: the Spectacular Room and the Fabulous Room. So, what's the difference between the two? After an explanation from the staff and some quick research, here's what we found:
- Fabulous Room
- Features city views, with a view of the WET® pool below.
- Has a freestanding bathtub and a separate shower, adopting a dry/wet separated layout. The side connecting to the room uses a rotatable vertical wooden screen as a semi-transparent partition.
- By the floor-to-ceiling windows, there is an elevated lounge area featuring a long daybed.
- Spectacular Room
- Features Taipei 101 views (the same angle as Yen Bar on the 31st floor).
- The shower area and built-in bathtub are in the same space. The side connecting to the room uses frosted sliding doors as a semi-transparent partition.
- By the floor-to-ceiling windows, there are two small sofas.
Since we had just spent two days looking at Taipei 101 from our room at Humble House Taipei right before moving to the W Hotel, we weren't super obsessed with needing a 101 view again. Plus, we knew we could enjoy the 101 view at Yen Bar during Happy Hour. Taking the staff's recommendation for the freestanding bathtub in the Fabulous Room into account, we ultimately passed on the Spectacular Room and opted for the city-view Fabulous Room Guest Room (1 King, City View).

The massive floor-to-ceiling windows make the interior feel like it extends endlessly to the outdoors, visually making the whole room feel incredibly spacious!

After admiring Taipei 101 for a few days at Humble House Taipei, we felt it was nice to switch things up. Looking out over the other side of the city was actually quite beautiful! 😆 We had a panoramic view of the bustling traffic stretching along the roads, the endless cityscape, and the faint outlines of the mountains in the distance.

Looking down, you can even spot the hotel's outdoor pool!

Cherry's absolute favorite feature of the Fabulous Room had to be this daybed by the window!

Lounging by the window and casually soaking in the sweeping, elevated views of the city outside… you could stay here all day and never get bored!

The room is quite spacious! The combination of light woods and white tones, accented by bright pops of lime green and red, creates a really lively and vibrant atmosphere.

For our "Babymoon," we stayed at 7 different hotels in northern Taiwan, only to be surprised that the concept of a "Babymoon" isn't very common here. Most hotel staff heard "Babymoon" and mistakenly thought it was a baby's one-month birthday! One hotel sent us a birthday cake, while another thoughtfully set up baby amenities in the room (which was still super sweet of them 😆). No exaggeration—W Taipei was the only hotel that knew exactly what a Babymoon was! Their welcome amenity included heartwarming orange-flavored macarons and cake, along with a super, super adorable hand-drawn card!

Here is the card that Cherry couldn't put down. She almost took it home to frame it!

One side of the bathroom features a white decorative wall with built-in indirect lighting. It perfectly balances design and function! By not using a solid wall, it adds a lot of visual transparency, keeping the space from feeling heavy.

The bathroom design is incredibly unique. Unlike the minimalist approach most hotels take, W Taipei's bathroom feels like it has a lot of fun little "gadgets and gizmos." The side is fully stocked with amenities, a little stool, and more!

The rectangular sink is so stylish!

The amenities are displayed in a very unique way—tucked into a bright green, transparent drawer box. On top, they generously laid out bottles of water, towels, rinse cups, tissues, facial cleanser, lotion, and so much more.

The most fascinating thing was this bright red jewelry stand! We've never seen a jewelry stand in any other hotel. And the best part? If you like it, you can buy one to take home. We have to hand it to W Hotel—they really know how to do business. Every corner of the room feels like a chic display case! 😆

The amenities include a facial cleanser, and it's actually pretty good! When we saw one red and one green rinse cup, we assumed the toothbrushes would be red and green too. Curiosity got the better of us, but upon opening them, we found out both toothbrushes were red! 😆 Later on, when we stayed at the Moxy Hotel in Taichung, we discovered a hotel that actually did think like us and provided two different colored toothbrushes!

The hairdryer is by Philips and features red accents, proving that they don't forget to echo the room's red and lime green color scheme, even in the smallest details.

The freestanding bathtub is separated from the guest room by a "rotatable vertical wooden screen," allowing you to look right through to the room and the city view outside while soaking in the tub! The wooden material feels very high-quality. If you want some privacy, you can simply close the screen, and it instantly transforms back into a regular bathroom.

Soaking in the tub while taking in the gorgeous city skyline outside… how relaxing is that?!

The shower features a very vibrant lime green, and the built-in shelf area even has recessed lighting, which really amps up the luxurious feel!

The toiletries are by the Italian brand Davines. Both Kevin and I thought they smelled like coconut (though after squinting at the ingredients, we couldn't actually spot any coconut 😆). The shampoo and conditioner left our hair super soft, and that "mysterious" coconut scent gave us major vacation vibes. Both for its scent and quality, this is definitely one of Cherry's favorite hotel amenities!

The bidet toilet has a sensor that automatically opens the lid, flushes, and closes the lid again. You don't have to touch the toilet from start to finish—it's incredibly convenient! W Hotel injects a bit of humor into a lot of areas, making things very playful. For instance, the spare roll of toilet paper is labeled "Backup Plan." This playful touch felt very similar to our later stay at the Moxy Hotel in Taichung.

The unconventional bathroom design truly stands out. Even though it's a downtown hotel, the overall style evokes a lazy, relaxing resort vibe!

The closet by the entrance contains a safe, luggage rack, ironing board, bathrobes, and more. The craziest thing was finding a DVD player! Truly a testament to a hotel with over a decade of history!

The bathrobe feels more like a light cotton material, making it very comfortable and easy to wear. With the signature "W" embroidered on the sleeve, Cherry almost impulsively bought one to take home!

The TV is an older 42-inch LG LCD model with quite thick bezels. It felt just a tiny bit out of place amid the room's ultra-trendy design 😅. But, paired with the Bose sound system, watching TV was still a great experience!

The Mini Bar by the window features a very unique design, with cabinets irregularly stacked all the way from the floor to the ceiling.

We didn't spot a coffee machine, but they did provide coffee sachets, tea bags, an electric kettle, and more.

The Mini Bar is also packed with fun "gadgets." Beyond the usual drinks, there's even a cocktail shaker! Perhaps the idea is for guests to transform into their own personal bartenders?

Open the mini-fridge, and you're greeted with a massive selection of alcohol and beverages!

Opening the Surprise Me cabinet revealed even more fascinating items! They had pantyhose, W baseball caps, and even W folding umbrellas… They really followed through on their "every corner is a display case" marketing strategy 🤣

The bed at W Hotel was honestly quite comfortable, and they offer a menu of different pillow choices. However, in terms of sheer comfort, it falls just slightly short of Westin's "Heavenly Bed." For Cherry, who can normally fall fast asleep on absolutely any bed, it took the insomnia of pregnancy to finally notice the subtle differences between mattresses!

It's definitely worth mentioning that this Fabulous Room feels entirely different during the day compared to when the lights come on at night! During the day, it has a fresh, slightly Nordic vibe. But once night falls and the lights kick in, it instantly transforms into a trendy nightclub setup 🤣

The neon, nightclub-style indirect lighting behind the TV wall and under the daybed is super eye-catching!

The white decorative wall emits bright, indirect light, giving the entire bathroom a warmer and far trendier feel under the glow than it does during the day!

The view looking out from the bathroom feels completely different than it does in the daylight, too!

Under the cover of night, as the red and blue lights from the surrounding buildings switch on, even the city view outside perfectly coordinates with the room's nightclub aesthetic.

This was our first time staying at a W Hotel property. Overall, we felt the room was quite spacious and the design was truly one-of-a-kind—it just feels entirely different from other hotels. Although it has a bit of age, it's maintained incredibly well, and the design still feels very fashionable. You can tell that when it opened a decade ago, its room design was absolutely cutting-edge! The comfort level of the room makes you want to just laze around and never leave. With the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, you can take in the stunning Xinyi District cityscape without even leaving the bed. It's beautiful and photogenic both day and night—we highly recommend it!

the kitchen table Buffet Breakfast

Breakfast at W Taipei is served at "the kitchen table" on the 10th floor. It's available from Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 10 AM, and on weekends from 7 AM to 10:30 AM (subject to official announcements).

The bright yellow and white dining space, combined with abundant natural light, makes the dining environment feel incredibly lively and bright!

For a hotel breakfast, the variety is quite impressive. They offer three different types of congee: plain congee, sweet potato congee, and century egg with lean pork congee, along with a ton of side dishes!

Besides congee, there's also dim sum. The siu mai they serve is delicate and delicious—they didn't skimp on quality just because it's an all-you-can-eat breakfast.

The pastries and breads feature some Taiwanese flavors. It was our first time seeing honey cake at a hotel breakfast, which was a delightful surprise!

Inside the custard bread, you could actually see little black specks in the custard, which tells us they used real vanilla beans rather than artificial extract. The silky custard paired with the soft bread was absolutely delicious!

There's also a great selection of Western-style cold cuts and cheeses, including dry-cured Iberian ham. And of course, there are plenty of hot dishes and cereals too.

In addition to various made-to-order egg dishes, the true star of the show was the "Truffle Scrambled Eggs." Packed with rich truffle flavor, it was absolutely incredible!

The freshly cooked noodle soup even came with two massive shrimp! Truly a very generous breakfast spread!

Overall, W Taipei’s breakfast offers excellent variety. The ingredients are premium for a hotel buffet, and the flavors left a great impression on us. The dishes lean towards Taiwanese and Western styles, and the pastries were right up Cherry's alley! With diverse made-to-order stations and even fresh-squeezed juice, it's a very sincere and generous breakfast spread. Among the hotels in Taiwan, it easily ranks near the top of our list!
Happy Hour
If you are a Marriott Platinum member (or higher) or booked under a specific package, you absolutely cannot miss W Taipei's incredibly generous "Sunset Drinks"! Every day from 5 PM to 7 PM, you can head to either "Woobar on the 10th floor" or "Yen Bar on the 31st floor" to enjoy unlimited selected beverages. It's seriously such a sweet deal!

At sunset, Cherry highly recommends spending your Happy Hour at Yen Bar, where you can sip your drinks while taking in the majestic view of Taipei 101.

Walking into Yen Bar, you immediately feel the bright natural light flooding the ultra-trendy, purple-themed lounge space!

We arrived promptly at 5 PM, and the hotel staff thoughtfully arranged a booth for us. They even brought over some dried vegetable crisps as bar snacks, which were phenomenally good! (We thought we were being restrained, but accidentally devoured two bowls 😂).

You can enjoy unlimited drinks from the menu pictured above! Since pregnant women can't drink, we were relieved to find two excellent mocktail options: "Oasis" and "Red Sun." If you do drink alcohol, you could easily try one of everything—absolute paradise! 🤩🤩🤩

After asking the staff, we found out they also offer hot chocolate! Both mocktails weren't overly sweet and tasted great. We initially assumed a cocktail-focused Happy Hour wouldn't suit a teetotaling pregnant woman, but both the food and mocktails provided were surprisingly delicious and refreshing.

Paired with the breathtaking view from the 31st floor and Taipei 101 looming in the background, it was simply perfect! As tourists, we couldn't bear to leave, staying for the full two hours and drinking to our hearts' content.

The night view after dark is equally stunning. With such magnificent scenery elevating Yen Bar, even though it doesn't offer a full food spread like some other hotel Happy Hours, W Taipei's Happy Hour still managed to leave us with one of the best impressions ever! Super highly recommended!

Hotel Facilities
Located in the prime real estate of Taipei, W Taipei boasts an outdoor swimming pool, a gym, a spa, along with two restaurants and three bars! The overall setup of the facilities made Cherry feel like she was staying at a full-fledged resort. It's truly a hotel where you can walk in and just happily laze around until checkout!
Outdoor Swimming Pool

The open-air poolside is perfect for soaking up those lazy vacation vibes—and it's one of the absolute must-visit photo spots!

The poolside is equipped with all sorts of loungers and swing chairs.

At the far end of the pool sits a massive stainless steel art installation. Get close, and your reflection shines on the metal—it gives off a very similar vibe to Chicago's famous "Cloud Gate" (The Bean)!

The outdoor pool is surrounded by a lush green garden, forming a striking contrast with the towering skyscrapers all around. It's a beautiful clash of elements!

The garden has multiple beautifully landscaped spots, making it perfect for relaxing, and honestly, every angle is incredibly photogenic! If you love taking Instagram-worthy photos, you absolutely cannot miss this outdoor pool and garden!
Gym

The hotel gym is massive and super trendy! The amount of fitness equipment inside is almost absurd for a hotel gym. Located on the 12th floor, the views from inside are pretty fantastic too.

You get a fantastic, up-close view of Taipei 101 right from the gym!
Spa Center

Also located on the 12th floor is the spa center. Due to time constraints, we didn't have the chance to experience it this time, but we've heard it features a sauna, steam room, and hydrotherapy pools. Definitely worth checking out if you have the time!
Hotel Restaurants
W Taipei's two main dining venues are the all-day dining restaurant "the kitchen table" on the 10th floor, and "Yen Chinese Restaurant" on the 31st floor.

The hotel's Buffet Breakfast is served at "the kitchen table." In addition to breakfast, they also offer all-you-can-eat buffet services for lunch and dinner. The online reviews are excellent!

Yen Chinese Restaurant on the 31st floor boasts gorgeous views from its windows. They serve dim sum for lunch and focus on family-style set meals for dinner. Their Peking duck, which must be pre-ordered, is supposedly famous! Since it was just the two of us, we opted for the lunchtime dim sum. A few of the dishes were very unique and tasty, and combined with the elegant dining environment, we highly recommend it!

W Taipei features three bars: Woobar and WET Bar on the 10th floor, and Yen Bar on the 31st floor. Woobar has a high-ceiling dining space with a view of the outdoor pool, serving mainly light bites and beverages. We highly recommend picking a sunny day to sit at Woobar, look out over the pool, and soak in that vacation vibe!

WET Bar, located right by the pool, is another great option, providing convenient refreshments for guests enjoying the pool. Unfortunately, it was closed for renovations during our stay.

Needless to say, the most highly recommended bar is Yen Bar, which offers a stunning high-altitude view of the Xinyi cityscape and Taipei 101! If you visit W Taipei, you absolutely cannot miss this ultra-trendy lounge!
How to Enjoy W Taipei Resort Facilities Without Staying?
The services and facilities provided by W Taipei truly rival those of a resort, which is, of course, reflected in its premium room rates! However, Cherry discovered that Klook offers an "Exclusive" non-stay "[Day Pass]" package. This pass grants you access to W Taipei's pool, sauna, and gym facilities, plus two signature cocktails at Woobar and a five-star buffet dinner at "the kitchen table"—all at a fantastic price! We highly recommend this for friends who want to enjoy W Taipei's premium facilities without shelling out for an expensive overnight stay.

Stay Review & Recommended Guests
Cherry feels that out of all the hotels we've stayed at in Taipei so far, W Taipei easily offers the strongest vacation vibe! During our stay, Kevin kept talking about wanting to head downstairs and explore the Xinyi District. But between the incredible hotel facilities and restaurants, we spent so much time taking photos and experiencing everything that we ended up staying entirely inside from check-in to check-out—not taking a single step outside! The overall design is super chic yet incredibly relaxing. Despite being right in the hustle and bustle of Xinyi, neither the rooms nor the public spaces give off even the slightest hint of a stuffy business hotel. The facilities and dining are top-notch. It's truly a hotel where you can fully unwind and treat yourself to a proper getaway!
