A few yachts were anchored on the tranquil sea, dotted with the golden glow of the sunset. Looking back, we could even see Mount Otemanu! Combined with Bora Bora's inherently romantic atmosphere, Cherry and Fish truly felt this dinner beat out every other restaurant we’ve ever visited—it easily takes the crown as our number one most beautiful and romantic dining experience. Yes, this restaurant is the "Bora Bora Yacht Club", located on the main island of Vaitape!

The Yacht Club isn't far from Vaitape's main port—only about a 5-minute drive. If you take a taxi, it's a whopping $15 USD one way 😱. However, for dinner, this restaurant offers free shuttle service from the main island for various resorts. For example, since we were staying at the Conrad and had to take their boat shuttle to the main island, the restaurant sent a car to pick us up right in front of the tourist center at the main port. For detailed shuttle times for different resorts, you can check their official website.

We asked the concierge at our resort, Conrad Bora Bora Nui, to help us make a dinner reservation. They also kindly booked and confirmed the shuttle pickup time and location for us. Worried about missing the sunset, I specifically asked them to book an earlier shuttle, so our pickup time ended up being 5:30 PM.

Other than exploring Vaitape a bit on the day we arrived in Bora Bora, we had stayed exclusively at our resort. So, we took this dinner trip as a great opportunity to catch some more views of Vaitape along the way~

The drive was only about five minutes; we arrived in no time at all.

The roof of the Yacht Club is just as full of island vibes as the overwater bungalows at the resorts, with "Yacht.Club" written in huge letters. I'm guessing it's painted that big so people on incoming yachts can spot it from far away~

After chatting with the staff, we realized that "Yacht Club" isn't just the name of the restaurant—it is an actual yacht club (duh 😆). They provide services for people sailing their yachts to Bora Bora, including mooring, refilling water, trash disposal, as well as shower and laundry facilities. Even if you don't want to come in for a full lunch or dinner, they have a bar serving drinks and cocktails all day long~

As soon as we walked in, we were drawn to an entire wall covered in flags~ We figured these were probably left behind by visitors from all the different countries who have sailed into this club!

You can get a crystal-clear view of Bora Bora's gorgeous sunset from the entire dining area of the Yacht Club.

A few yachts were anchored out on the water. We heard the owners actually live on board, meaning if you have your own yacht, you can literally sail yourself to Bora Bora for a vacation! That is just too cool!

We were the very first guests to arrive, and we got the ultimate VIP seats in the whole club~ The pier extending out into the water in the photo below is exactly where we dined—it's an actual pier where yachts can dock!

If you're coming to the Yacht Club for dinner, we highly recommend arriving right when they open at 5:30 PM. There were absolutely no visual obstructions in front of where we sat—it felt like the entire sunset belonged completely to us!

The sprawling coral reefs right by the pier were also incredibly beautiful.

For dinner, they offer a set menu that includes a main course, appetizer, and dessert, priced at 8,500 XPF (about $85 USD).

If you prefer not to get the set menu, you can also order à la carte. Main courses are around $30-50 USD per person, while appetizers, desserts, and cocktails are about $10+ USD each. Since ordering two set menus was a bit over our budget, we ultimately decided to just order main courses, plus one cocktail and one dessert to share.

True to its status as a French territory, the meal absolutely had to start with bread~

Kevin ordered a locally caught fish, which was cooked and plated right at our table!

Done!!

Kevin's fish.

My duck breast.

Actually, Cherry had been wanting to eat at this restaurant because she read a blog by a Western traveler who highly recommended their Piña Colada, so we ordered a glass to try~ It turns out that because Cherry and Fish aren't really big drinkers to begin with, we thought it was just okay 😆. Cherry personally only likes super sweet drinks, like plum wine~

We initially didn't have high expectations for the food at a restaurant that sells itself on ambiance, but wow~ the food was surprisingly very, very, very delicious!

We were busy eating dinner, watching the sunset, and taking photos all at the same time—it was a very busy evening for us~

As the saying goes: the sunset is infinitely beautiful, but alas, dusk is fast approaching.

By the time we finished our main courses and dessert was served, the sky had turned completely dark~

With such incredible food paired with breathtaking views, it was hard to believe there were only two tables occupied at the Yacht Club that night~ It seems most tourists really do prefer to just stay within their resorts~

While we were eating dessert, the staff thoughtfully came over to ask which shuttle boat we wanted to catch back to Conrad Bora Bora Nui—there was a 7:30 PM and an 8:30 PM option. Once we picked our time, they took care of calling the taxi to take us to the pier. So getting back and forth via the shuttle is actually incredibly easy; the resort and restaurant staff arranged all the timing and transportation for us perfectly~

They turned on the lights at night, so you could still see the fish swimming in the water! After heading back to the main pier, we discovered there were food trucks nearby~

While waiting for our shuttle boat, we went over to see what kind of food they were selling.

There were actually quite a lot of food options to choose from! If you want to experience some local flavor, you should definitely give the food trucks a try!

The prices were quite cheap by Bora Bora standards. A main dish was around $10-14 USD, and they had drinks and desserts all under $6 USD~

To sum it up, we spent a little over $100 USD at the Yacht Club that day, plus $30 USD total for the round-trip taxi to the shuttle boat. When you do the math, it’s actually about the same price as eating at the resort. However, the Yacht Club gave us a completely brand new life experience of dining on a pier with the sunset entirely to ourselves. We truly felt it was phenomenal value for money, and in my heart, it's a special once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you ever find yourself in Vaitape on Bora Bora, you absolutely cannot miss this!
