Harry Potter Store New York Information

★ Location: 935 Broadway, New York|Map Link
★ Hours: Mon-Thu 10am-8pm | Fri-Sat 9am-9pm | Sun 10am-7pm | Official Website

Officially opened in June 2021, the Harry Potter Store in New York remains the largest Harry Potter flagship store in the world! The location is absolutely prime, sitting right next to the iconic Flatiron Building and just steps away from Madison Square Park. You can easily tick off all three of these amazing spots in one go!

Right in the center of the store, you'll spot the magical spiral staircase that leads to Dumbledore's tower office in the movies. While the stairs themselves don't actually move, the massive Griffin at the bottom rotates periodically, perfectly recreating that magical feeling of the moving staircase!

Photo taken at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London

The Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London actually has a special exhibit and explanation for this very staircase! For Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the film production team specially built a moving staircase installed in a 12-foot-deep pit under the stage, hiding the mechanics that controlled its vertical movement. It's considered one of the most complex rigs the special effects department ever built!

The wand shop is located in a very prominent spot within the flagship store—you can't miss it!

The area in the center of the wand shop, always surrounded by a crowd, is none other than the Pensieve! There are nine different wands arranged around it. When you touch a wand, an image of its owner slowly materializes in the glowing blue Pensieve! It feels incredibly magical. This is absolutely Cherry's personal favorite "magical installation" in the entire store!

Nestled between bookshelves stacked high with wand boxes, you'll find several magical windows. Not only does the scenery outside change with the actual seasons, but peering through them gives you a glimpse into the Forbidden Forest. You can watch the Patronuses of different characters darting through the trees! If you're sharp-eyed, you might even spot Dumbledore's Phoenix Patronus. Word has it this is an exclusive experience you'll only find at the New York store!

There are over 50 different wands to choose from in the shop, so you can definitely find the one that chooses you. Among them, the "Golden Snitch Wand" is completely exclusive to the New York flagship! The store also offers a personalized engraving service for your wand (for an extra fee). And it doesn't stop at wands—you can get your name added to wizard robes, journals, travel gear, pens, accessories, Triwizard Tournament jerseys, Hogwarts trunks, and even your very own Hogwarts acceptance letter!

The flickering fire projected onto the hearth, combined with the "Wanted" posters plastered on the walls, really amps up the cinematic, magical vibe.

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the visitor's entrance to the Ministry of Magic is a classic red London telephone booth. By dialing 62442 ("MAGIC"), you connect straight to the Ministry! So, naturally, the flagship store brought in a real London telephone box for us Muggles to snap away to our hearts' content! 🤣

There's also a life-sized standee of the beloved half-giant Hagrid from the movies, complete with a pair of his hilariously oversized shoes sitting right in front. It's another super popular photo spot in the store!

The store has so many exquisitely detailed little corners! Take this tree hollow, for example—peer inside, and you'll find Pickett the Bowtruckle from the Fantastic Beasts series hiding out.

As we were strolling around, we randomly looked up and saw a Phoenix soaring right above us!

The selection of themed souvenirs for all four Hogwarts Houses is massive. A lot of the designs have a very cool, preppy British flair. It's so fun to browse through!

They even turned the wizard robes of the four houses into backpacks—how creative is that?!

The Gryffindor accessories are just incredibly cute!!! They even have little keychain versions of the house scarves and ties!

Besides the four houses, they feature merch for other characters and creatures too, like the owls. Although, Hagrid's giant magical spider, Aragog, really steals the spotlight! If you're scared of spiders, you might want to steer clear of this section! 🤣

There's also an entire wall dedicated to Harry Potter LEGO sets!

Another major highlight on the ground floor is the Butterbeer Bar! The storefront, decorated with cascading Butterbeer bottles, is so unique and eye-catching. It was buzzing with people when we visited! The main event here is, of course, the draft Butterbeer for $13.50, which includes the awesome souvenir tankard shown in the photo above.

They also serve Butterbeer ice cream, Butterbeer muffins, Golden Snitch cookies, and more. It's mostly sweet treats, light bites, and drinks.

If you absolutely love Butterbeer, the store sells a 4-pack of bottled Butterbeer for $18, which is quite a bit cheaper than ordering it at the bar!

Following the spiral staircase down into the basement, we were startled to find the Basilisk from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets slithering out from the ceiling!

Don't forget to check out the interactive experiences down here, where you can ride a flying broomstick simulator! Info on Official Website

You get to snap a photo of yourself flying on a broomstick over the London skyline. It looks like so much fun! Sadly, we ran out of time and missed out on this experience.

There's a dedicated area in the basement just for selling wizard robes—all four houses are fully stocked!

They even have uniforms and merch from the other magical schools featured in the Goblet of Fire!

This "House of MinaLima" section was co-founded by Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, the brilliant graphic designers behind the visual universe of both the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts film series.

From the front pages of The Daily Prophet and the Hogwarts acceptance letters to the quirky covers of The Quibbler, all those magically detailed designs are their handiwork. To give fans a closer look at their art, they opened the first House of MinaLima in London. And now, the New York flagship has built its very own House of MinaLima—a visually captivating art space that wraps from floor to ceiling!

True to the Harry Potter spirit, even the bookstore section has to be delightfully magical! You walk through a massive archway built entirely out of books, and when you look up, the ceiling is filled with "flying" books. The shop sells all kinds of volumes, including Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages, and gorgeous illustrated collector's editions of the Harry Potter series.

Stepping into the Harry Potter Store New York—whether you're virtually riding a flying broom, picking out your very own wand, sipping on Butterbeer, or just soaking in all the incredible movie set details—makes you feel like you've genuinely crossed over into the wizarding world. For any Harry Potter fan, this flagship is an absolute must-visit pilgrimage site! But honestly, even if you aren't a die-hard fan, it's still completely worth popping in to check out. The best part is that it's right next door to the famous Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park, so you can easily bundle them all into your itinerary. Inside Madison Square Park, you'll also find a Shake Shack—but this isn't just any Shake Shack. This is the original, very first location of the beloved burger chain that took America by storm! If you need a bite to eat, definitely grab a burger from the founding spot of this East Coast legend! (Even though they've expanded to the West Coast now too 🤣)
