1. Regent Street

London's most iconic Christmas light tradition began on Regent Street back in 1954 — and it's still going strong. The showstopper? A jaw-dropping installation of massive 3D angel lights that look as if they've descended straight from the sky. Strolling beneath them with the glow lighting up the entire street above you is the kind of moment that makes you realize why London at Christmas is simply unrivaled. An absolute must-see.

2. Carnaby Street

Carnaby Street's ocean-themed lights — which debuted in 2019 after a complete redesign — are nothing short of delightful. A full underwater world has been transported to the skies above the street, and every single piece was made from recycled materials. The colors are vibrant, the display is playful yet spectacular, and it's the kind of installation that makes you stop and just stare. Don't miss it!
3. Oxford Street

In 2019, Oxford Street celebrated the 60th anniversary of its Christmas light switch-on in style — saying goodbye to years of snowflake-inspired displays and unveiling something completely new: 222,000 lights arranged into 27 shimmering LED curtains that span the entire length of the street. The effect is meant to evoke the Northern Lights, with shifting colors that create a genuinely ethereal atmosphere. If you're walking Oxford Street for the lights, be sure to also check out the Selfridges Christmas window displays — they're spectacular in their own right!

4. Bond Street

Bond Street is London's premier luxury shopping destination, home to virtually every major international fashion house. Since 2018, the street has been adorned with an incredibly striking peacock-themed Christmas installation — all shimmer and elegance, perfectly in keeping with the upscale character of the street. It might not top every "best Christmas lights" list, but it's personally one of our favorite spots in the whole city.

Beyond these four streets, nearly every corner of central London puts up its own unique Christmas lights during the festive season — each one different, each one worth discovering. We genuinely can't recommend London at Christmas highly enough. Wander without a strict itinerary, and let the city surprise you at every turn.
And the lights are just the beginning. London's Christmas calendar is packed with things to do — Christmas markets, spectacular department store window displays, and for Harry Potter fans, the magical "Hogwarts in the Snow" experience.
