The photo above shows the on-site ticket prices (as of Dec 2023). Before you go, we definitely recommend checking the prices on KKDay or Klook. When we visited, the online prices were pretty much the same as buying them on the spot, but it saves you the hassle of waiting in line!

After passing the ticket counter, we walked through a small door—and we had no idea a whole new world was hiding behind it! Winding vines climbed up the stone-paved walls, making us feel like we had just stepped into a slightly dilapidated castle hidden deep in the jungle.

The entrance to the Shark Reef Aquarium is on the left, and the exit is on the right. As you walk in, staff will ask if you'd like your picture taken. If you do, you can view and purchase the photos at the exit! If you know you won't be buying them, you can simply tell the photographer "no thanks."

There are a few rules inside the aquarium. The most important one to note is that no food or drinks are allowed inside!

The Shark Reef Aquarium continues the ancient jungle fortress theme right into the indoor exhibits.

Photo from the internet
First, we entered a jungle-like area filled with mysterious, unknown statues, adding a fantastic sense of mystique.

In the garden area, you can already spot several different animals. The most famous resident here is this incredible Komodo Dragon, measuring up to eight feet long! The Komodo Dragon is the largest lizard in the world, and in the wild, they are only found on four islands in Indonesia (seeing them is actually a very popular tour in Indonesia too!).

Walking past the jungle, we finally made it deeper inside the aquarium. The tanks display statues sunken to the ocean floor—it feels exactly as if the jungle temples we just walked through have been swallowed by the vast sea.

He was so focused watching the schools of fish swim by!

The underwater tunnel has appeared! We visited on a weekday, so there weren't too many people. Although the tunnel isn't extremely long, the lack of crowds made it so easy to stroll and snap great photos. A lot of the time, it was just me and our son in the tunnel—we happily had the whole place to ourselves!

You can see so many vibrantly colored tropical fish in the underwater tunnel.

After a lot of coaxing, our son finally agreed to leave the underwater tunnel… only to stand there watching the sharks swim until his legs got tired! Just how long was he planning to watch?! 😅

The beautifully ornate red lionfish are also super eye-catching!

There's a touch pool inside the aquarium where you can actually reach in and gently pet the fish. Getting up close and personal with tropical sea creatures makes the touch pool a massive hit with the kids!

Finally, we entered a dimly lit space—an exhibit area surrounded on three sides by massive aquarium tanks.

Looking closely, it felt like we were inside the cabin of a ship!

The massive exhibit in front of us turned out to be the wreckage of a sunken ship. It truly felt like we were sitting inside a sunken cabin at the bottom of the ocean, watching the fish thrive among the wreckage.

This exhibit features some very unique-looking sharks, and the atmosphere is spot on. With the giant, deep-blue tanks and sharks darting back and forth through the sunken shipwreck, it creates a perfectly serene yet deeply mysterious vibe.

Right before leaving the aquarium, there's one last mini underwater tunnel where you can get a close-up view of these incredibly bizarre-looking sharks!

After walking through the whole place, we realized the Shark Reef Aquarium really lives up to its name. Among all the marine life on display, the sharks are undeniably the most impressive. We even saw some unique shark species we'd never seen before!

To be completely honest, the Shark Reef Aquarium is not very large. If you just rush through it, you'll be done in no time. For anyone who isn't particularly interested in marine life, I personally think you can skip it. However, if you are a family traveling with kids, that's a completely different story! While the venue isn't huge, they put a lot of effort into the atmosphere, and Cherry even saw some sharks she'd never encountered before. Our two-year-old son absolutely loved it and completely bought into the experience! It was so easy to spend 1 to 2 hours here without any fuss. Since we visited on a weekday morning, there weren't crowds, making for a very comfortable viewing experience. Add in the touch pool where kids can pet small stingrays, and the incredibly mysterious vibe of the final shipwreck exhibit (you could sit and watch for ages without getting bored), and it's a highly recommended family-friendly attraction!
