Located in Downtown Las Vegas, the Container Park is an open-air shopping center that opened in 2013. It features plenty of unique restaurants, boutique shops, and a massive treehouse playground that kids absolutely love. At the entrance, an enormous praying mantis shoots out literal fire on a schedule every evening! The coolest part? Every single restaurant and shop inside is built from repurposed shipping containers. While the park isn't huge, it has a wonderfully artsy, hipster vibe. With all its charming little eateries and shops, it feels like a mini creative arts district right in the middle of Vegas. It’s a fantastic, family-friendly spot where everyone from toddlers to adults can have a great time!

Mantis Fire Show Times: Sun, Wed, Thu – Sunset to 10 PM | Fri, Sat – Sunset to 1 AM

Special Rules: Strictly 21+ only after 9 PM.

The Container Park is just a short 5-minute walk from the main downtown attraction, the Fremont Street Experience, so you can easily tackle both spots in one go!

As soon as we arrived at the Container Park, we were greeted by this giant mechanical praying mantis! From Wednesday to Sunday evenings, this mantis shoots real fire, starting at sunset until 10 PM (and extended to 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays). However, if you're traveling with kids, Cherry personally recommends visiting during the day. Downtown Las Vegas just doesn't feel quite as safe as the main Las Vegas Strip in the evenings (though maybe that's just Cherry's intuition! 😅).

An extra-long shipping container stretches across the entrance, proudly displaying the "Container Park" sign.

Since we visited close to Christmas, the park was already decked out in festive holiday decorations!

The restaurants and shops are stacked into two stories using repurposed containers, creating a super relaxed and breezy atmosphere. We visited on a weekday morning just before noon, and it was wonderfully quiet. There were only one or two other sets of parents there letting their little ones burn off some energy!

We even spotted an adorable little cotton candy cart parked outside one of the shops!

Even the exterior of the shops had beautiful Christmas decor!

Because we had a little "wild beast" (our energetic toddler!) in tow, Cherry didn't get to properly browse the shops this time. The photo above shows the store directory located at the entrance, so you can check out what's available before heading in!

There's an open plaza inside the park with a stage at the front. It looks like it would be a vibrant, bustling spot when they have live performances in the evenings!

The plaza features oversized building blocks, and our little guy had an absolute blast playing with them. It truly is a fantastic park for letting kids run wild!

The walls are covered in quirky murals, and there's even a car seemingly crashed right into the wall! 🤣 The best part? The car's windshield wipers actually move! Our vehicle-obsessed son was mesmerized and played with just this for quite a while.

You can see string lights hanging everywhere throughout the park. It must look incredibly magical all lit up at night!

Right in the center of the Container Park is a fenced-in area—this is the children's treehouse playground! When you look closely, you realize the "treehouse" is actually made from stacked shipping containers too! There’s also a pair of butterfly wings painted on the wall, clearly designed as the perfect photo op for tourists. 😂

Because the treehouse is fenced off, we initially thought there might be an admission fee, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out it's completely free for kids to play in! There are a few basic rules to keep in mind, though: no food or drinks, shoes are required (no bare feet), and children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Just take a quick look at the rules before heading in!

The Treehouse!

Besides the treehouse, there are plenty of other fun play structures too!

Finally, on our way out, we noticed a new installation where visitors can hang love padlocks! ❤️🔐

It was completely filled with locks!

To sum it up, this Container Park is hands down our most highly recommended free family attraction in Downtown Las Vegas! If you ever need a break from the main Strip, we highly suggest spending a day exploring this area. Aside from this park, Downtown Vegas is also home to an incredible Discovery Children's Museum (ticketed), which can easily keep the kids entertained for a full day. If you're traveling without kids, the Downtown area still has so much to offer, like the Fremont Street Experience, the Neon Museum, and the Mob Museum. If you're in the mood for shopping, there's even a Premium Outlets nearby. For a taste of vintage Las Vegas charm, it is well worth dedicating one or two days to wandering around Downtown. Best of all, there's a free Downtown loop shuttle that connects all these major spots, making it super convenient to get around!
