Two majestic camels on the main wall, clever golden accents woven throughout the room, and glittering bathroom tiles—this hotel's design perfectly captures the very essence of Dubai!!!
Opened in late 2017, the Renaissance Downtown Hotel is situated right along the Dubai Water Canal, boasting stunning views of both the canal and the mesmerizing city skyline! It's also just a short walk away from the world-famous Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall. We stayed in the Deluxe King Guest Room this time—so without further ado, let's dive into our room tour!

🐫 Now Rebranded as The St. Regis Downtown, Dubai
📌 In December 2021, the "Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai" was officially rebranded as the even more luxurious "The St. Regis Downtown, Dubai".
This shift in brand positioning brings it into the ranks of the other three St. Regis hotels and resorts in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Along with this update, the hotel has completely redesigned its lobby, room decor, and executive lounge. They’ve also added the St. Regis Ballroom, offering a fantastic new venue for business meetings, banquets, and weddings. And of course, staying at a St. Regis means you might get to experience their signature St. Regis Butler Service!
Let's take a sneak peek at its newly renovated look through these official photos~

🐫 Welcome Gift
At the Renaissance Downtown Dubai (part of Marriott International), Platinum Elite members and above get to choose their own welcome gift upon check-in at the front desk. We opted for some cookies, dates (Dubai's beloved national snack!), and bottled water~

Dates in Dubai are kind of like what potato chips or trail mix are back home 👉🏻 they’re the go-to casual snack to munch on when you're hanging out. They are sweet and actually quite delicious! The hotel went all out and packaged them in a beautiful gold Renaissance-branded box, tied perfectly with a pretty ribbon. It looked unbelievably premium!!! (Though we ended up forgetting to take a picture of what was inside 🤣)

🐫 Room Interior & Amenities
The room's interior features a sandy desert color palette as its base, paired with darker wood furniture. The lighting fixtures and hardware use gold accents to elevate the sense of luxury. Above the bed, a camel decoration crafted from simple metal lines cleverly introduces the camel motif into the design. The whole space feels minimalist yet incredibly stylish!

For a city center hotel, this Renaissance guest room is exceptionally spacious (and we weren't even staying in a suite!). It is easily one of the largest city hotel rooms Cherry has ever stayed in! The floor is laid with large tiles, beautifully tied together by a massive, striped oval rug that connects the entire living area, including the bed, sofa, and small coffee table. The rug not only ties the space together perfectly but also adds a lot of warmth to the room~

The full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows behind the sofa is one of the absolute highlights of the room. During the day, the view outside looks just like a giant, vibrant painting!

But the most jaw-dropping feature is this long, black rectangular mirror above the desk. At first glance, it just looks like a massive flat-screen monitor~

It perfectly hides the TV inside! When you turn it on and the image projects through the mirror, it gives off such a cool, futuristic vibe.

Right as you walk in, you're greeted by a very wide hallway, and there's an incredibly dramatic photo of a camel hanging there!! 🤣

Along the hallway, there's a small mini-bar equipped with an illy coffee machine, a kettle, an assortment of glasses, to-go cups, teas, coffees, and a mini-fridge. They've thoughtfully provided absolutely everything you need to enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee!

There's another really unique detail in the room. While hotels usually provide a Bible in the drawer, here in Islamic Dubai, you'll find a Quran instead!

Since it was our first time seeing a Quran in person, we were curious and flipped through a few pages. It was actually a bilingual edition with Arabic and English side-by-side translations, which was super cool!

🐫 Bathroom
The bathroom and toilet area is undoubtedly the most luxurious-feeling space in the entire room. The tiles are laid out in horizontal stripes using sparkling gold mosaic pieces. Even though it's super shiny and golden, it just feels incredibly opulent without being the slightest bit tacky!

The floating sink features a sleek, minimalist design, and the large gold-framed mirror beautifully reflects the ornate tiles on the wall. While this bathroom isn't massive compared to the size of the bedroom (the bathroom at the Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort really was huge, haha!), it absolutely nails that premium feel and signature Dubai luxury style!!!

🐫 Toiletries
The toiletry packaging at the Renaissance Dubai also incorporates gold elements. The brand featured is Amouage, which was founded in Oman in 1983. Amouage has traditionally focused on high-end luxury perfumes and only recently ventured into bath and body products~

To be completely honest, Cherry had never even heard of this brand before! 🤣 But after using their shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, she was incredibly impressed by the scent. It has an indescribable, sophisticated fragrance with a touch of exotic flair! For bath products, the scent is definitely on the stronger side, so those who prefer milder fragrances might not love it. However, it's easily become Cherry's personal favorite hotel toiletry brand to date. The products work wonderfully, and the scent was right up her alley!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

🐫 Turndown Service
During the daily evening turndown service, the staff places two chocolates and a bottle of water on the nightstand, while a floor mat and slippers are neatly laid out right by the bed.

For a city hotel, we rate this room extremely high! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 It's incredibly spacious, stylishly decorated, and perfectly blends luxury with local camel motifs! In some of the higher-tier rooms, you can even see the Burj Khalifa straight from your window. The service throughout the hotel is impeccable, and many of the public areas offer sweeping views of both the Dubai Water Canal and the city skyline. If you're visiting Dubai, you absolutely have to experience this gorgeous hotel that flawlessly merges Dubai's glamour with its desert heritage!

As a final side note, Cherry and Fish took this trip to celebrate New Year's Eve in Dubai. Because traffic gets incredibly congested starting on the afternoon of December 31st, staying at a hotel like the Renaissance Downtown, which is within walking distance of the Burj Khalifa, is highly recommended for anyone coming to see the New Year's fireworks! If you have a bit of extra budget, the hotel also has restaurants with direct views of the Burj Khalifa, meaning you can easily ring in the New Year in comfort without having to squeeze through the massive crowds outside~

A quick reminder for those who have Marriott Bonvoy status or are planning to join: we highly recommend booking the Renaissance Downtown Dubai directly through Marriott's official website. This ensures you'll receive all your member benefits and be able to accumulate points. If you book through third-party websites, there's a very high chance you won't be able to enjoy your elite status perks during your stay!
